CES 2017: Netgear Go In On Gaming With Nighthawk S8000

Networking specialists Netgear have used CES to launch their new high-end Nighthawk S8000 Gaming and Media Switch.

Proudly touting a total of 8 ports, Netgear say the Nighthawk S8000 will extend both the speed and performance of their existing Nighthawk WiFi router range.

“Beyond its sleek and stylish good looks, the Nighthawk S8000 Switch offers ultra-smooth, ultimate performance switching with a highly intuitive user interface that makes setup, advanced configuration, and optimization all stress-free,” said Richard Jonker, vice president of SMB and Switching Product Line Management for Netgear.

“With the Nighthawk S8000 Gaming and Media Switch, NETGEAR is tackling the problem of overloaded wireless networks head-on. 4K video streaming, VR gaming and non-stop high-speed web surfing throughout the home are putting a severe burden on home networks that are struggling to provide reliable, lag-free connections,” he said.

The S8000 can seamlessly integrate with any Nighthawk router and comes with pre-configured ports for media streaming, gaming and VoIP or video calls. It also comes capable of a feature called Link Aggregation (LAG), which allows users to use combine ports together to create an aggregated connection of up to 4Gbps.

The Netgear Nighthawk S8000 8-port Gaming and Media Switc will be available in March 2017.

In the US, the Nighthawk S8000 will arrive with an expected retail price of $99.99.

Australian pricing and availability is to be confirmed.
