BlackBerry Australia’s managing director Matthew Ball will leave the smartphone company to take over Optus’s small and medium business operations.
Ball will join the telco at the end of this month, reporting to head of wholesale, satellite and SMB, Rob Parcell. He replaces Reid Meldrum, who left Optus late last year to become the head of Salesforce partner Sqware Peg.
His appointment comes on the back of Optus’s renewed push to expand its SMB customer base.
Earlier this month the telco said it would open 126 specialist SMB stores, on top of its existing 26, along with a dedicated SMB call-centre in Adelaide.
Ball will leave behind a five-year career as the head of BlackBerry’s A/NZ operations.
