Asus has revealed its flagship ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W gaming monitor at Gamescom 2025, featuring unprecedented refresh rates of 540Hz at QHD resolution and up to 720Hz at 720p, establishing new performance benchmarks for OLED gaming displays.

The 26.5-inch monitor represents the first OLED gaming display to achieve these refresh rates, positioning Asus ahead of competitors who typically rely on TN panels for similar performance levels.

The dual-mode system allows users to prioritise either resolution or refresh rate depending on gaming requirements.

The PG27AQWP-W utilises tandem OLED technology that delivers 15% higher peak brightness, 25% wider colour volume, and 60% longer lifespan compared to previous WOLED monitors, according to Asus specifications.

The 2560 x 1440 panel includes TrueBlack Glossy coating designed to improve contrast and colour vibrancy while reducing glare in bright environments.

The monitor achieves 0.03ms response time alongside VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black certification and 99.5% DCI-P3 colour coverage, making it suitable for both competitive esports and creative applications.

These specifications position the display for professional gaming scenarios where millisecond advantages can determine competitive outcomes.

Connectivity includes DisplayPort 2.1a with full 80Gbps bandwidth support, HDMI 2.1, and a tripod mounting socket for flexible positioning.

The comprehensive port selection enables maximum performance with next-generation graphics hardware.

Asus has differentiated the PG27AQWP-W with a distinctive silver stand and semi-transparent back panel, departing from typical black-framed gaming monitor aesthetics.

The company includes its OLED Care Pro suite, featuring a Neo Proximity Sensor that automatically dims the screen when users step away, providing burn-in protection alongside a three-year burn-in warranty.

Asus also introduced the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG, a 26.5-inch QHD model operating at 280Hz with the same tandem OLED panel technology and protective features.

The company rounded out its offerings with the XG27AQDMG Gen 2, an upgraded 240Hz WOLED monitor that adds the TrueBlack Glossy coating and proximity sensor to last year’s design.

Asus positions the PG27AQWP-W as the world’s fastest OLED gaming monitor, though the company has not announced pricing or release dates.

The specifications suggest premium market positioning given the advanced technology implementation.

The announcement comes as the gaming monitor market sees increased competition, with AOC recently launching a 420Hz gaming monitor under $351 and Xiaomi introducing 4K HDR monitors with USB-C charging capabilities.
