Apple’s OS Upgrades Arriving September 15
Apple has confirmed its full suite of operating system upgrades will roll out globally from September 15.
Given time-zone differences, that translates to September 16 in Australia.
The updates—iOS 26, iPadOS 26, watchOS 26 and macOS 26 (Tahoe)—will hit supported devices simultaneously.
That’s a move that underscores Apple’s push for cross-platform consistency.
The most obvious change is a shift to a year-based naming system, with the ‘26’ designation aligning version numbers across the ecosystem.
The upgrades will also see all four platforms adopt the company’s new Liquid Glass design language.
Liquid Glass is a glossy, transparent aesthetic that Apple promises will make devices feel more unified.

Most of the OS upgrades will be invisible, but everyone will notice the new ‘Liquid Glass’ design
On iPhones, iOS 26 brings live translation powered by Apple Intelligence, overhauled Phone and Messages apps, and a new Games hub.
The iPadOS 26 upgrade goes further with a flexible windowing system, a redesigned Files app, and tablet-optimised versions of Preview and Phone.
The aim of the changes is to narrow the productivity gap with laptops.
The watchOS 26 upgrade introduces AI-driven features such as Workout Buddy, the Notes app, and a wrist-flick gesture for easier navigation.
Meanwhile, macOS Tahoe delivers enhanced Spotlight search, clipboard history, a new Phone app, and improved gaming support.
It will also be the final major OS release for most Intel-based Macs, drawing a line under Apple’s transition to its own silicon.
The update will be free for eligible devices, with the September rollout shaping up as Apple’s most cohesive software refresh yet.
One designed to lock users even more tightly into its expanding ecosystem.
