Apple’s latest AppleSeed beta software update for its HomePod is causing the devices to overheat and short out.
A Reddit thread outlines a litany of woes from those testing the ‘AppleSeed’ beta, an early stage software update available to invited users only, who complain of ‘frying’, powering down, and hardware failures.
“I advise to unplug any one of your HomePods that are hot on top leading to your logic board failing or have the issue on audio OS 15 where Siri can’t pause music when it is playing music, touching the top will only skip it,” the original Reddit post reads.
As 9to5Mac point out, many users that weren’t invited to test the software have gotten hold of the update, which is nigh impossible to reverse once installed.
In other words, steer clear.
