Apple To Release “Deluge” Of New Products

Apple are preparing for one of its most ambitious release periods ever according to Bloomberg’s resident Apple expert, Mark Gurman.

The Cupertino based tech giant announced a slew of new products at their Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) this year.

Gurman says that there is even more to come, including four iPhone 14 models, three different Apple Watches, M2 and M3 powered Macs, iPad variants in both low and high end variants, new AirPods Pro a, a new HomePod, an upgrade to the Apple TV and of course, the long-speculated mixed reality headset.

Starting with the iPhone, Gurman says that the Pro and Pro Max models are likely to receive the brand new A16 mobile chip, as well as a 48MP camera and a “pill-shaped cutout” to replace the iPhone 13’s notch for Face ID, alongside a hole-punch selfie camera. The standard iPhone 14 and 14 Max will still use the iPhone 13’s A15 chip, while a 6.7-inch model is set to replace the Mini.

Apple also has three new Apple Watch variants in the works, including a Standard Series 8 to replace the Series 7, a new SE model and a brand new Sports model to take on Garmin and Suunto. The Series 8 will feature the same chip as the S7 and S6, however the following watch is expected to get an upgrade. The new SE however is getting a big power boost, with the S8 processor expected to feature.

WWDC saw Apple announce several M2 powered devices, including Mac Mini’s powered by M2 and M2 Pro chips, MacBook Pro’s featuring the M2 Pro and M2 Max, and Mac Pro’s with M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme chips. Gurman has also said that the M3 will follow closely and is likely to feature initially in 13” and 15” MacBook Air devices next year.

Apple announced an M2 powered iPad Pro, which will feature in 11” and 12.9” sizes, as well as a larger iPad in 14” and 15”, which would be released in the “next year or two”. Gurman also added that based on an earlier rumour, a cheaper iPad may also be in the works, and would feature the A14 chip, USB-C connectivity and 5G.

Other announcements include a new HomePod, which Gurman says will have an S8 Chip, new display and potential “multi-touch functionality”, the rumoured M2 powered mixed reality headset and updated AirPod’s Pro. While Apple had little to say about tvOS, Gurman believes that a new Apple TV is due for reveal, featuring more RAM and an A14 chip, resulting in a device better suited for gaming.
