Apple Pulls Redesigned Health App, Delays Major Upgrade
Apple has removed its redesigned Health app from the latest iOS 27.2 beta, restoring the existing interface and raising questions about when iPhone users will get access to the company’s planned health upgrades.
It comes as Samsung announces updates to its Samsung Health features.Â
The Apple change appeared in iOS 27.2 developer beta 4, released on October 13, after the redesigned app had been included in earlier developer and public beta versions.
Users installing the latest test software will find the familiar Health app layout back in place. Reportedly the previous Sharing section now replaces what was the new Longevity area.
Apple has confirmed that the redesigned Health app remains planned for release later this year, but has not specified which software update will deliver it.Â
The redesigned app was expected to give users a more comprehensive view of their health information, moving beyond the existing collection of activity, sleep, heart rate and other health measurements.
Among the planned additions is a Health Age feature, designed to help users understand how selected health indicators compare with age-related benchmarks.
The overhaul also introduces a Longevity section and Insights, to make health information easier to interpret.

Another proposed feature is integration with Quest Diagnostics, which would allow eligible US users to schedule laboratory testing via the Health app.
These additions would give Apple a stronger position in the growing market for digital health services.
However, the latest beta removes access to the redesigned experience for now
Apple has reassured beta users that health information collected during testing will not be lost with a message displayed in the updated software also saying the redesigned Health app will become available in a future update.
The change does not mean Apple has abandoned the redesign. Instead, the company appears to be separating the new experience from the immediate iOS 27.2 release.
Apple has not publicly detailed the reason for pulling the app changes.
Health and fitness have become important parts of Apple’s broader ecosystem, with the Health app working together with Apple Watch to collect information about activity, sleep and wellbeing.
