Apple AirPower Tipped To Launch September

Following its global unveiling late last year, recent reports forecast Apple’s ‘AirPower’ charging mat will release in September. First revealed during Apple’s iPhone X announcement, the Californian company has since provided little information.

Apple’s AirPower charging mat aims to wireless charge several Apple devices simultaneously – e.g. AirPod case, iPhone and Apple Watch.

According to Bloombergthe accessory has taken longer than anticipated to develop, specifically around issues of heat management and electrical circuitry.

The AirPower is reportedly currently amid ‘extensive’ testing, including ‘everyday’ use at Apple’s offices.

The next-gen wireless charging mat is said to run a basic version of iOS to customise power management for each device.

Given different power needs for different products – e.g. iPhone vs Apple Watch – the company has reportedly run into firmware difficulties.

Consumers will have to hold their breath to see if the rumours are proven correct. For loyalists who own several Apple products, the AirPower charging mat is tipped to be a firm favourite.
