Android Nougat Continues To Grow

First released in September, Android 7.0 Nougat now accounts for 0.4% of active Android devices.

According to new statistics from Google, the new version of Android continued to rise from 0.3% in early November while older versions like Lollipop, KitKat and Jelly Bean continued to shrink.

Given the large base of active Android users, this pegs adoption of Nougat at over three million devices.

As it stands, Lollipop still makes up the largest chunk of Android users at 34% with Marshmallow working to close the gap at 26.3%.

Recent reports out of Strategy Analytics claimed Android handsets made up 88 per cent of all mobile shipments in Q3, so expect Nougat’s slice of the pie to grow in the coming year.

Still, these are fast gains for a platform only a few months old with many major manufacturers still yet to roll it out to their devices via software update.
