Amazon has been granted “unconditional approval” from the European Union to buy legendary movie studio MGM, hurdling a substantial roadblock.

The A$11.74 billion takeover was deemed to pose no competition issues within the 27-country EU. This means that Amazon will soon own the Rocky and James Bond franchises, among many other classic titles from MGM’s hundred-year reign.

“We’re pleased with the commission’s decision and, with MGM, look forward to providing more choice of quality entertainment for viewers,” Amazon said of the EU’s findings.
