Amazon Opens Sydney Fulfilment Centre

Amazon has announced its second Australian fulfilment facility is now open in Moorebank, South West Sydney.

The facility allows for more Australian businesses to stock their product with the online retailer, and will aid in faster delivery times for more customers.

Businesses who use Fulfilment By Amazon (FBA) on amazon.com.au will be able to access millions of Australians, and will also automatically have their products eligible for Prime. Amazon Prime is a subscription service that offers perks like free two day business delivery, entertainment and members-only deal events such as Prime Day.

Robert Bruce, Amazon Director of Operations, commented on the achievement, saying “This is an exciting milestone for Amazon in Australia.

“The Sydney facility in Moorebank will help Amazon ensure that customers enjoy fast and reliable delivery across more areas of the country,

β€œThe new Sydney centre builds on the capabilities of our first fulfilment centre in Dandenong South in Victoria, and expands our ability to service the growing customer demand.”

Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller hailed the new facility as a job creator. Commenting on the opening, Waller said “It is great to welcome the Amazon fulfilment centre now it has opened its doors in Moorebank.

“We have seen such a positive response from our local community since Amazon announced it was coming.

“We look forward to having good jobs for people close to where they live and working with Amazon as a partner in the local community.

“We expect the Sydney fulfilment centre will become a key logistics hub thanks to its strategic position in South West Sydney.”

At 43,000 square metres, or six football fields, the new centre will be the largest of the two in Australia. It is placed strategically for easy access to the M5, Sydney airport and ports.
