Amazon Granted Permission To Monitor Your Sleep

Amazon has been granted US permission by the Federal Communications Commission to use radar in order to monitor consumers’ sleeping habits – or as the company puts it  to “enable contactless sleep tracing functionalities.”

Amazon is claiming this will help those “with mobility, speech, or tactile impairments” and will be highly effective.

“The use of Radar Sensors in sleep tracking could improve awareness and management of sleep hygiene, which in turn could produce significant health benefits for many Americans,” Amazon said in its filing.

“Radar Sensors will allow consumers to recognise potential sleep issues.”

The FCC has already granted permission for Google to use radar in touchless control of Pixel smartphones.
