Alcatel Launch Oz First Kids Smartphone

As the gap between kids and technology continues to narrow, Alcatel has launched Australia’s first child-safe smartphone with built-in Family Zone features.

In conjunction with Family Zone, the new ‘FZ ONE Powered by Alcatel’ phone ($199) offers a slew of world-leading parental settings, including unprecedented control over screen-time, social media, apps and Fortnite cut-off.

The Android phone incorporates a 18:9 HD screen, fingerprint scanner and facial recognition.

The 4G device boasts a 13MP [rear] and 5MP [front] camera, and is available to purchase from Family Zone’s website here – inclusive of free shipping, free $20 Woolworths mobile SIM, and free 12 months Family Zone protection.

Latest numbers reveal two thirds of primary school kids have a mobile phone, with Family Zone claiming the average child spends 32 hours per week on a screen.

The new FZ ONE Powered by Alcatel phone seeks to alleviate parents’ fear of unsupervised online/social media usage.

Alcatel VP and Regional Managing Director, Sam Skontos, claims the phone’s release will appeal to today’s modern family:

“The team at Alcatel share’s Family Zone’s deep passion for creating safe environments online for children and peace of mind for their parents, and taking our partnership to a level that enables us to deliver the FZ ONE to market via an Alcatel device is a proud moment for the company and for me personally.”

“When you combine Family Zone’s expertise with our long-standing record of delivering highly-featured, innovation smartphones at highly affordable prices, and we have a compelling option for Australian families.”

CEO and Founder of cyber-safe consultancy ySafe, Jordan Foster, has labelled the FZ ONE a “game changer”:

“The FZ One allows for transparency, so that parents can know what their kids are doing on their devices, and allows for a healthy conversation about device use to support learning and positive behaviour”

“It is the physical embodiment of the cyber safety advice that we have been giving parents for years – control access, set boundaries and openly communicate. This phone facilitates all three elements, and is truly a game changer.”
