Acer Set To Make Its Move On VR

Acer’s CEO Jason Chen is set to pivot the Taiwanese multinational towards virtual reality in a bid to stake their claim in the fast-growing tech niche.

A contrast to their low-end approach to personal computing, Acer are set to partner with Swedish game develop Starbreeze on a high-end VR headset called the StarVR.

With a price tag suggested to be in the four-digit range, Acer are positioning the StarVR towards commercial, corporate and health-care buyers.

Given how heavily current-VR players Oculus and HTC have focused on the consumer and gaming markets, it’s easy to imagine the move proving a savvy one.

Reports also say the joint-venture will soon see the StarVR headset make its way into select IMAX locations in America later this year.
