Acer Scores Big In Vic Govt Contract

Acer has scored big in the selection of vendors for the Victorian Government with the Department Of Premier & Cabinet being chosen across several categories including, Chrome Devices, Desktop, Mobility Devices, Notebooks and Two in One Devices.

The supplier that appears to have missed out is Lenovo with ChannelNews told that the Department of Premier & Cabinet had some concerns over “security” and the fact that Lenovo is seen as a Chinese Company.

No one from the Department was prepared to go on record to say why Lenovo had not been included in the selection of vendors despite Lenovo tendering for the contract.

Other winners include Dell, HP and ASI Solutions who put forward both Apple and Microsoft Surface products.

ASI and CompNow take over from Datacom as the panel’s Apple supplier, while vendors Samsung and Toshiba have been dropped from the list.

The contract is worth several million dollars.
