Tramontina Fast Cooker Recalled

The Fast Cooker is supplied by Tras Marketing & Sales, and sold via retailers such as Big W, King of Knives, Peters of Kensington and Safeway. Its main selling point is the fact it can cook food up to 40 per cent  faster than ordinary cookware, because it has a low internal pressure.

The ACCC issued a recall of this product because it has been found a vacuum forms inside the cookware when the lid is left on the pot for periods of time (one to two hours) after finishing the cooking process. If a vacuum forms after one to two hours, the ACCC found this can create a ‘pull’ effect, causing the glass lid to break or shatter.

The ACCC has suggested consumers who own the product, should remove the lid from the pot after finishing the cooking process. Alternatively, they can remove the lid and then lay it loosely back on top, leaving an open space between the lid and pot. Updated instructions are available from the supplier’s website. Testing has shown that these steps eliminate the possibility of the hazard occurring.
