Early this afternoon (Thursday) the Sydney offices of Altech Computers was surrounded by Police and Sherriff Officers.

 

 

ChannelNews has been told that the Company has several million in debts and that PPB Advisory have been appointed as administrators.

 

 

Calls to the Companies sales lines were not answered today.

 

 

Altech Computer CEO Anthony Sheen was also not answering calls

 

 

Late last year ChannelNews exclusively reported that Altech Computers was facing the loss of several major brands, they were also forced to close their Vietnam operation while in Hong Kong senior Altech staff have defected to start their own distribution operation.

 

 

In Australia several senior staff have quit the struggling distributor for to take up jobs at distributors who spent the last 12 months’ accounts out of Altech who last year laid off up to 50 staff.

 

 

Alan McDonald who joined Altech as Marketing Director quit the Company along with General Manager Michael Chong

 

 

Among the brands who have moved to minimise their exposure to Altech is Razer who has appointed Rectron Australia as a second distributor.

 

 

ChannelNews also confirmed that the Companies New Zealand branch manager had defected to Synnex New Zealand.

 

Synex Also picked up the rights to distribute the Corsair brand in Australia and New Zealand.

 

 

Two former Altech product managers, Simon Yang and Jing Jin, also quit Altech in Australia and moved to Leader and Rectron with several brands following them out the door.

 

Late last year we exclusively revealed that Samsung dropped the Sydney distributor after the Company was put on credit hold over unpaid bills, we also revealed that up to 50 staff had been laid off prior to Christmas 2014.

 

 Among those to have quit the Company was Kevin Hartin the former sales and special projects director and Nick Popov the former marketing director prior to the appointment of McDonald.
