HP Launches New Consumer Range

The new gadgets and PCs were unveiled at a breakfast media event in Sydney yesterday.

Star items include a range of colourful Pavilion 360 11-inch notebooks, pictured, that flip between standard notebook mode, stand mode for viewing video, tent model for playing games or tablet mode for mobile computing.

The notebooks feature a new hinge that uses three spiral gears said to give precise movement to ensure the display glides smoothly and stays in place.

The 11-inch models range in price from $699 to $999.

The Pavilion x2 is described as a thin new detachable tablet model with a notebook form factor. With keyboard detached, the tablet weighs 569 grams. Prices start at $549.

There’s also a range of Pavilion all-in-one and tower standard-PC models, aimed at home users and classrooms.

An “Envy Phoenix” tower, aimed largely at serious game players, has overclocking control and optional thermal cooling system. It will be released in October at a price to be announced.
