New iPhone 6 Will Have 13 Megapixel Camera That Shoots 4K Claim Sony Sources

ChannelNews has been told that Apple engineers have
been working with Sony to develop an expanded sensor that will give them an
edge in the smartphone market after research revealed that iPhone owners did
not believe that an iPhone had a “superior” camera.

It now appears that Apple will incorporate a new
Sony 13 megapixel Sony IMX220 Exmor sensor. In the past Apple has used a Sony
Exmor IMX145 sensors.

The new iPhone 6 will also be capable of shooting
4K video.

The current iPhone 6 handset offers an 8-megapixel
camera and 1080p full HD recording.

Earlier this week a leaked rear casing component
seemed to confirm the iPhone 6S and its larger-screened sibling will feature an
identical design to the current model. However, internal changes definitely
seem on the agenda.

Reports have suggested the company will fit the 6S
with a Force Touch display, similar to the trackpad on the new 12-inch MacBook
(2015) with Retina Display.

Insiders are tipping a September 25 release date
which is two weeks after IFA where Samsung is set to launch a new Galaxy Note.
