Drone Delivery Test To Go Ahead
Federal regulators have okayed the tests but observers say it could take years before Amazon implements a fully-fledged service.
For the first time the US Federal Aviation Administration has allowed Amazon to conduct test drone flights outdoors, as long as it complies with a raft of rules, including flying below 400 feet and then only during daylight hours.
For now Amazon’s drones will have to be operated by a desk-bound pilot with a certificate to fly private aircraft.
Eventually the online retailer hopes Amazon Prime Air, consisting of fleets of miniature helicopters venturing worldwide, will be controlled by automatic pilot.
