Telstra Secures $390 Million Deal For NBN Planning And Design

Telstra Secures $390 Million Deal For NBN Planning And DesignUnder the contract, Telstra will prepare network plans and designs, including fibre-to-the-node, fibre-to-the-basement and fibre-to-the-premises technology.

The announcement follows the signing of a new $11 billion deal between Telstra and NBN Co for the NBN’s rollout.

NBN Co last month revealed further details of its planned multi-technology rollout, confirming only areas in which fibre-to-the-premises has already been deployed or is in the advanced stages of being built will remain part of the fibre-to-the-premises rollout.

A fibre-on-demand product is also under consideration as part of NBN Co’s multi-technology mix.

The contract term is for up to four years, with Telstra advising the contract value will also be subject to the rate of progress in the NBN rollout, along with the outcome of future price reviews under the terms of the contract.

“We’re pleased to have won this work in a competitive market and we look forward to working with NBN Co to help it prepare for the construction of the next phase of the NBN,” commented Telstra chief operations officer Kate McKenzie.
