Clamshell Touchscreen Notebooks To Be Phased Out
Orders from vendors have “already disappeared completely”, DigiTimes reported sources as stating, despite the best efforts of Microsoft and Intel to drive the market forward.
Instead, vendors are set to focus on conventional non-touchscreen notebooks along with 2-in-1 devices, according to the report, with some market watchers believing inexpensive notebooks will help boost sales but not necessarily profit margins.
While touchscreen controls are more the province of smartphones and tablets, tablet sales are forecast to record a steep decline this year comparative to the growth of recent years.
Meanwhile, smartphone shipments are forecast to grow, but at a slower rate in coming years.
