iPhone 6 Smartphones A Sales Success For Optus
Optus postpaid marketing director Tim Cowan told Fairfax Optus experienced its most successful week of sales on the back of the latest-gen iPhone launch in September.
“Clearly there’s competitive pressure with the three big players in the market,” Fairfax reported Cowan as stating.
“The iPhone 6 period has really heightened that, and the device has driven more demand than anyone would’ve really expected.
“We sold out of iPhone 6s and it exceeded our previous high, which happened with the launch of Apple’s iPhone 5s.”
Following the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Apple reported record first weekend sales topping 10 million units worldwide.
At the beginning of November, the Australian Bureau of Statistics noted the impact of the release of the new iPhones in driving growth of electrical and electronic goods retailing in Australia in its monthly retail turnover analysis.
Cowan additionally told Fairfax the iPhone 6 has provided a boost to the company’s subscriber numbers overall.
