57% Of Aussies To Buy On Black Friday, Up 7%

Latest data from Black Friday Global expects 57% of Aussies to shop on Black Friday (Nov 23) this year – a notable 7% year-on-year jump.

Over 80% of Australians are reportedly aware of ‘Black Friday’, despite the event’s American roots.

Commentators assert the launch of Amazon Australia will significantly increase Black Friday’s popularity, with the e-commerce giant tipped to ramp up promotion in 2018.

Research expects the average Aussie shopper to spend A$263 on Black Friday, with clothes and electronics forecast to be the most popular.

Home appliances ranked in fifth place, preceded by cosmetics/perfume and shoes.

A 53% discount is expected to be the average Black Friday discount, with A$297 the average savings gained.

Online shopping remains the predominate manner of perusing Black Friday sales, with only 6.3% of Aussies expected to exclusively shop in-store.
