New Samsung Smartwatch To Feature Rotating Bezel Ring

New Samsung Smartwatch To Feature Rotating Bezel RingThere has been speculation Samsung will unveil two new flagship smartphones in the form of the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge plus at an Unpacked event in New York on August 13, at which it could also unveil its latest wearable offering.

SamMobile reported confirmation of the rotating bezel ring came at the Tizen Developer Summit, being held in India.

SamMobile has previously reported that the Gear A will feature a Exynos 3472 dual-core processor, 768 MB RAM, 4 GB internal storage, a 250 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi, along with gyro, GPS, barometer and heart rate sensors, with the display to have a 360 x 360 pixel resolution.

The smartwatch market is on a steep growth curve in 2015, with research firm Strategy Analytics recently finding global smartwatch shipments grew 457 per cent annually in the second quarter. According to Strategy, the Apple Watch was dominant, capturing a 75.5 per cent market share in first place, with Samsung claiming a 7.5 per cent market share in second place.

Neil Mawston, Strategy executive director, noted that Apple has “clearly raised the bar for the global smartwatch industry”, with the ball “now in the court of rivals, like Samsung, to respond”.
