Warwick Bray Appointed New Telstra CFO
It was announced earlier in the year that Penn would take on the chief executive officer role, replacing David Thodey, who had announced his retirement after almost six years in the role.
A replacement for Penn was not announced at the time, with Telstra today advising that Bray, the telco’s group managing director products, will take on the role.
Bray, who joined Telstra in 2009 as head of corporate strategy, has been Telstra’s group managing director products since 2013.
Prior to joining Telstra, Bray worked in investment banking roles in Australia and the UK.
From 1989 to 1998, he spent almost 10 years at McKinsey & Company in London and Melbourne, advising incumbent, new entrant and mobile telecommunications companies on strategy, regulation, mergers and acquisitions, capital spend and operational effectiveness.
“Warwick has decades of knowledge in and around telecommunications and technology and significant financial experience proven by his business results in Telstra and other companies,” Penn stated.
“We are pleased to have appointed Warwick from within our executive ranks, highlighting the depth of talent within the business. He is well regarded in the industry and has a proven track record in leading and significantly growing multi-billion dollar businesses.”
Telstra has yet to appoint a new group managing director products, with group managing director consumer Karsten Wildberger to assume responsibility for the role while a permanent replacement is determined.
