![]() ChannelNews understands that Redmond quit due to conflicts with senior Chinese management, a seasoned sales executive Redmond has been credited with being responsible for a lot of TCL’s success in recent years.
According to Company insiders sales of TCL products have slowed in Australia much to the angst of TCL Chinese management who are not happy with the success of other Chinese brands Hisense in the TV and appliance market and Haeir in the mass appliance market.
Another Chinese Company struggling in Australia is Changhong.
TCL products are sold ay Harvey Norman but not Dick Smith or JB Hi Fi they are seen as a cheap value brand that is mostly sold through Victorian and regional retailers.
A company insider said “TCL Australia is not a good place to work and Nick stood up for his staff, his exit from the Company is a big loss as he was the guy who retailers trusted and he was the guy that bought in a lot of business for the Company. Recently TV orders have slowed and the Chinese management were not happy with the situation”.

Neither Redmond nor TCL Managing Director Harry Wu were available to comment.
