Satki3’s solid-state technology switches out reactive liquid compounds for solid lithium electrodes, storing a claimed 1000 watt hours per cubic litre, compared to the 620 cubic litres stored by lithium-ion batteries.
With its investment in the Michigan-based firm, Dyson said it aims to double battery life for smartphones, and potentially create electric cars that can handle 900-1000 kilometres on a single charge.
