New Nintendo President Named
Nintendo today announced the appointment, with Kimishima, the company’s managing director and head of its human resources division, taking on the president role and appointed a representative director.
Kimishima has extensive experiencing in the banking industry, having worked at the Sanwa Bank (now the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ) for 27 years. His association with Nintendo began in 2001, when he was appointed as representative director of the Pokemon Company. Kimishima, who also previously held the role of CEO of Nintendo of America, takes on the role as Nintendo looks to branch out into smartphone gaming. Earlier in the year, the company announced it was partnering with Japanese mobile and online services company DeNa, developing game apps for smart devices. “The alliance is intended to complement Nintendo’s dedicated video game systems business and extend Nintendo’s reach into the vast market of smart device users worldwide,” the companies stated upon announcement of the partnership. Senior managing directors Genyo Takeda and Shigeru Miyamoto have taken on the titles of technology fellow and creative fellow, respectively. |
