eBay And Woolworths Team Up For Click And Collect
The click and collect service will initially launch in Sydney and Tasmania, with customers able to collect orders from a selection of more than 90 Woolworths and BIG W stores.
Launching with sellers including Your Home Depot, the service is expected to expand to include 250 sellers within two months.
eBay and Woolworths project there will be up to 12,000 sellers involved, with additional Woolworths and BIG W stores to also be included as the service ramps up over the next three years.
“The new service creates a brand new avenue for our sellers, driving traffic and encouraging a rise in sales that could change the face of businesses all over the country,” commented Hamish Moline, eBay merchant development director.
“Not only that, it’s a service we hope will revolutionise the way Australians shop, enabling a new and convenient way to get the things they need and want every day.”
The Woolworths partnership follows a partnership between eBay and Argos in the UK, with Moline stating the delivery options “have already proved hugely successful for eBay UK”.
As reported by Fairfax Media, Emily Amos, general manager Woolworths marketplace, believes more than a third of shoppers picking up online eBay purchases from a Woolworths store will make additional purchases in-store.
“Yes we do hope it will drive foot traffic in stores … people are definitely walking into our stores and purchasing when they pick up their online orders,” Fairfax quoted Amos as stating. “This test will be the point where we prove that out.”
