Google Owned Company Targets Sonos

The Company who make smart thermostats has recently run an advertising campaign for sound engineers.

The advertisement posted on its website explains that the successful candidate would “Build a world class audio team through hiring and mentoring”.

The role would also include “Develop an audio roadmap for Nest products, including HW and SW that can support delightful user experiences and innovative features”.

ChannelNews has been told that the Company has targeted Sonos engineers as potential candidates to join the Google owned Company.

Nest was created by former Apple engineers to develop smart thermostats and smoke detectors which can communicate with smartphones over Wi-Fi and form the basis for an intelligent home.

Users can command their heating to come on with the press of a button on the way home from work, or be woken up by an alarm on their phone should the kitchen smoke alarm detect dangerously raising temperatures.

It was these products which attracted a buy-out from Google in 2013, for a reported $3.2 billion.

Now the company appears to be readying an expansion into other areas of the home, and is hiring an engineer to “lead the development of Nest Audio across hardware and software”.

An advert posted on its website explains that the successful candidate would “Build a world class audio team through hiring and mentoring”.

The role would also include “Develop an audio roadmap for Nest products, including HW and SW that can support delightful user experiences and innovative features”.

Currently Nest products are not sold in Australia however at the recent CES Show in Las Vegas Nest executives said that Nest technology “Will eventually be available in Australia”.
