Spotify Zooms Ahead Of Apple

Ahead of the company announcing their plans for a new higher-resolution streaming tier, Spotify has announced that it has added 10 million new subscribers over the last five months.

The company made the announcement that they passed the 50 million subscriber milestone via Twitter earlier today.

This healthy bump to Spotify’s userbase that suggests some of the streaming company’s more recent moves have proved popular with users.

What’s more, it widens the gap between Spotify and its biggest rival Apple Music.

Apple Music passed 20 million subscribers in December.

Meanwhiile, Tidal sits at a distant third with 3 million subscribers (at least officially).
