Threads Kills Phone Batteries
Threads has amassed over 100 million users since the launch last week, and users are noticing it is draining their phone batteries.
“Is Threads just …. murderous to anyone else’s battery?” said one user.
“I’m not going to use Instagram Threads until … it stops draining my phone battery,” wrote another.
Other users posted screenshots of their accounts including the graphic that showed low battery life.
“Go follow us on Threads. And don’t look at my battery level,” said one user.
“Follow me on threads…also 1% battery,” said another.
“Threads app is collecting so much background data that it’s draining users phone battery faster than any other application.”
Another user shared a screenshot showing the battery usage per app on the device, noting Threads was the most taxing, using 53% of the phone’s energy, while Twitter used 12%.
Threads has noted over 95 million posts since the launch, and around 190 likes on posts.
Twitter on the other hand has seen traffic drop by 11% compared to the same time last year.
This new success is fueling the war between Twitter’s Elon Musk and Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg.
Zuckerberg has said, “The goal is to keep it friendly as it expands. I think it’s possible and will ultimately be the key to its success.”
“That’s one reason why Twitter never succeeded as much as I think it should have, and we want to do it differently.”
Musk however said this, “It is infinitely preferable to be attacked by strangers on Twitter, than indulge in the false happiness of hide-the-pain Instagram.”
“You will get more laughs from this app than everything else combined.”
“But I have to warn you … don’t be shocked … there’s some negative stuff too.”
