Pensions including older people who dont use the Internet are set to be slugged by Telstra if they contine to on getting therir monthly billing in the post.
In an email and letter sent to customers who still get a paer bill Telstra has said that they are set to slug customers $2.20 plus GST, there is no option in the correspondence for people who don’t use email or stuggle to get access to the Internet.
Telstra claim that the action is being taken because ‘The’re committed to sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint of the big carrier.
There was no mention of how much money they will save on postage or having to send out paper bills/
They go on to claim that the move will be “more efficient” and help customers keep information secure.
There was also no mention of the recent data breach of Telstra system recently.
From 12 December 2022, paper bills from Telstra will incur a charge of $2.20 including GST.
“We understand that sometimes you may prefer a paper bill, but if you’d like to avoid a fee you can switch to email billing today” customers have been told.
They sare also pushing customers to use the Telstra app on a mobile phone.
To set up fee-free email billing, customers are told to “log in to Your Telstra Tools at telstra.com.au/yourtelstra.tools, click on the billing tab and then request email billing in the bill settings section”.
