Smartwatch Market Continues Double-Digital Growth

The global smartwatch market is booming, recording double-digit growth for the fifth consecutive quarter.

The first three months of 2022 saw a 13 per cent year-on-year climb, according to Counterpoint Research’s Global Smartwatch Model Tracker.

Apple has retained its hefty lead in the market, taking a 36 per cent market share during the March quarter. Counterpoint notes this lead could wider as the year goes on.

Samsung is chasing hard, with a 46 per cent year-on-year increase in shipments, with the Galaxy Watch 4 seeing the Asia Pacific market share grow significantly.

Huawei’s shipments stayed flat, but the Chinese tech giant managed to hold onto third, while Xiaomi and Garmin come in fourth and fifth.

Interestingly, Garmin ranked third in terms of revenue, thanks to its pricier models.
