Seven Bringing 360-Degree Coverage Of Rio To Gear VR
Australian Olympic partner Seven are set to bring VR-ready 360-degree video to Samsung’s Galaxy VR through their new 7Rio VR 2016 app.
The app will feature up to 100 hours of 360° programming, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, men’s basketball, gymnastics, track and field, beach volleyball, diving, boxing and fencing.
Users of the 7Rio VR 2016 app will even be able to toggle between multiple camera angles on live streams of selected sports.
According to Chief Revenue Officer at Seven West Media, Kurt Burnette, “These Olympic Games will be accessible to every Australian and promise to be the largest aggregated audience ever seen across platforms and screens.”
“The Games content delivered and curated by Seven will be seen, heard, shared and discussed in many new ways with Seven as the driver.”
Some off this 360-degree video content is also expected to make its way onto Seven’s Facebook page.
“We are thrilled to work with Channel Seven on this first-of-its-kind endeavour, connecting fans right to the action in Rio, powered by 360-degree storytelling, virtual reality and our Galaxy phones,” said Phillip Newton, Corporate Vice President and CMO Samsung Electronics Australia.
