Samsung has gone into production for its new bezel-less foldable OLED panels, which uses a new flexible lamination method that’s ten times cheaper than transparent tape.
The new method, named OCR, jet sprays a liquid transparent adhesive, giving a “smooth and accurate lamination” as the ink jet can reach tricky areas around the punch hole and speakers.
This is much smoother than the earlier transparent tape (OCA) used, as well as ten times cheaper to manufacture.
According to TheElec, the biggest challenge in OCR applications, the dripping of materials along curved surfaces, has been solved, resulting in a bezel-less product, and thinner screens.
