Samsung Reveal “The Wall Luxury” 292-Inch 8K TV

Samsung has announced the next generation version of The Wall dubbed “The Wall Luxury”, a massive modular MicroLED TV with a maximum resolution of 8K that measures 292-inches available globally from July 2019.

For those with a little less space, a 2K version of The Wall Luxury is available that’s a paltry 73 inches.

A 4K MicroLED 75″ version of The Wall was displayed at CES 2019, where Samsung proclaimed that MicroLED was the way of the future for large screen TVs.

The Wall Luxury boasts a depth less than 30mm and a slim, bezel-less infinity design.

Like the original Wall TV, it can be paired with customisable frames to blend into surroundings, ensuring no disruption to the desired ambience of its environment.

The Wall TV is designed to never turn off and when not in use Ambient Mode can be enabled which will display digital artwork.

This next-gen luxury version is equipped with Samsung’s AI upscaling engine Quantum Processor Flex which automatically optimises images regardless of the original source format.

MicroLED uses individual LEDs to create an image, as opposed to LED TVs which uses LEDs to light an image behind an LCD layer.

Meaning areas of black in an image are completely black as their pixels are not emitting any light.

OLED TVs are self-emissive and have issues with burn-in, brightness limitations and concerns over the lifespan of the organic compounds.

Samsung claims The Wall Luxury is rated for 100,000 hours of use and can reach a peak brightness of 2,000 nits thanks to the MicroLED technology.

As Samsung’s MicroLED technology is modular it can be configured for different sizes and resolutions which each module clipping together.

You can’t increase the resolution of the individual modules, but you can add more pixels using more modules.

Samsung has partnered with Harman Luxury Audio and Steinway Lyngdorf for audio solutions and Control4, Crestron and Savant for home automation solutions.

Pricing has yet to be announced but it is tipped to be not cheap.
