Samsung Galaxy’s ‘Repair Mode’ Stops Technicians From Snooping
Samsung is introducing a new feature for those sending Galaxy devices off to be fixed.
“Repair Mode” will lock down your personal data while a technician is repairing your phone, meaning the person repairing your device won’t be able to snoop around in your photos, messages, or app accounts.
While set in this mode, technicians will still have full access to your phone, but they’ll only see the default apps, which will have blank data.
Upon the return of your device, you can authenticate the phone and disable repair mode.
“You won’t be able to access your personal data, such as photos, messages, and accounts,” while the mode is on, according to Samsung, who have just rolled the feature out in Korea.
