Samsung Expects 2023 Chip Profits To Be Halved

Samsung has revealed it is expecting its 2023 operating profit from semiconductor sales to be roughly half of what it made in 2022.

This mute forecast was shared with employees along with information about their 2022 bonuses and performance incentives.

The Device Solution division is expecting an annual operating profit of 13.1 trillion won, or A$15.1 billion. This is just over half of the expected A$30.08 billion the division made in 2022.

This comes after the company warned that a rocky end to 2022 would carry over into 2023.

“The general perception earlier this year was that the second half would be better than the first half, but from April to May, it changed drastically,” said Kyung Kyehyun, head of Samsung’s Device Solutions Division.

“The world is changing so quickly.”
