Samsung Display Begins Mass Producing 32″ 4K QD-OLED Panel
Samsung Display has announced mass-production for the 31.5-inch 4K QD-OLED monitor panel has started, and shipments are expected to double in 2024.
The panel news is already known with the announcement of ASUS, Dell and MSI 32-inch 4K QD-OLED monitors, and now Samsung Display has confirmed the timing of mass-production.
“Samsung Display, which drives the growth of the high-end display market with QD-OLED, announced on December 13 that it will start the mass production of 31.5-inch UHD (3840×2160) resolution QD-OLED from this month. This new product has achieved the highest pixel density and UHD resolution in self-emissive displays.”
The company noted the pixel density is 140ppi (pixels per inch), which is equivalent to the pixel density of a 65-inch 8K TV.
“At present, self-emissive 30-inch displays generally adopt QHD (2560×1440) resolution, while consumers who like games and high-definition video content prefer UHD products.”
Additionally, mass-production will start on a 27-inch QD-OLED panel with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, and 360Hz refresh rate.
Samsung Display stated the two new panels will be available “from the beginning of 2024.”
Shipments are expected to more than double in 2024 compared to this year.
QD-OLED will be offered in 27, 32, 34 and 49-inches for monitors, as well as 55, 65 and 77-inches for TVs.
