Samsung & ADT Debut Smart Home Security Pack

Samsung has partnered with notable home security company, ADT, to release a smart ‘Home Security Starter Kit’. The pack fuses a balance between DIY home security products and professionally installed security systems.

The pack is set to retail for US$549.99 and comes with a security hub, a motion detector and two door and window detectors.

The ‘security hub’ is the base station for the pack, whilst also serving as a SmartThings hub for controlling and connecting with other SmartThings devices.

Samsung states the system’s size can be expanded through additional expansion kits, incorporating sensors for carbon monoxide, fire and water.

Consumers can utilise optional professional monitoring, by signing up through ADT’s app. ADT states no fixed contracts are involved, and consumers can activate and cancel the paid service at any time.

Jay Darfler, Senior Vice President of ADT Emerging Markets, states of the partnership:

“By partnering with Samsung SmartThings, we’re able to expand our professional monitoring services to even more customers looking for the smartest and safest DIY home security solution on the market”.

Samsung states the partnership will increase the perpetuation of home automation and ‘smart home’ systems into the mass market:

Bill Lee, Vice President of Smart Home Product Marketing, Samsung Electronics America affirms:

“We know from research that home security and safety are top reasons why consumers adopt smart home technology”

“The collaboration with ADT enables us to connect our Samsung SmartThings ecosystem to the most trusted name in life safety so consumers have peace of mind knowing that someone is ready to react to an incident at home in just a moment’s notice”

The Samsung and ADT partnered pack will debut to selected American retailers on October 29th and will be available to purchase online for US residents first.
