Retailers Dump LG Product From Their Stores Cheaper To Buy Direct
LG Electronics who have struggled to get their premium priced Gram notebooks to be taken seriously is now facing new problems with JB Hi Fi and Harvey Norman dropping the South Korean Companies notebook range from their stores as LG moves to undercut their pricing.
Currently Harvey Norman has the 17″ Gram product ranged on their online site only at $3,099 the same notebook can be purchased from the LG US web site for US$1,200 or A$1,848 with shipping to Australia an additional $75.
A visit to the LG Australia web site reveals the same notebook being offered by LG Electronics directly for $2,324 a saving of over $755 on the Harvey Norman price.
In their latest financials LG Electronics management have been quite open about wanting to expand their direct sell business in an effort to reduce the margins that retailers need when they range an LG Electronics product.
Both Harvey Norman and JB Hi Fi have not said whether they dropped the product from their store networks because of poor sales in Australia for the LG Gram notebooks that are seen as being expensive compared to what is available from competitors such as Acer, ASUS, Lenovo and HP.
