Remarkable Teases ‘Pocket-Friendly’ Paper Tablet
Digital note-taking specialist Remarkable has hinted at a new device set to launch on September 3.
The teaser suggests the company, whose products are sold at JB Hi-Fi, may be preparing a smaller, more portable version of its Paper tablet series, designed for people on the move.
The short video, released on social media, carries the tagline “Something is on the move”, implying a focus on portability.
While previous Paper tablets were slim, they were more in the size range of an iPad than a Kindle. Early glimpses suggest this upcoming device could finally offer a genuinely pocketable alternative.
From what the teaser reveals, the edges of the device resemble the Paper Pro, hinting this may be a compact variant of the brand’s higher-end tablet.
A colour display is also visible, signalling that this won’t be a stripped-back entry-level model like the Remarkable 2, but a fully-featured tablet for serious note-taking.
Remarkable has traditionally focused on handwriting and productivity rather than reading, unlike competitors such as Amazon’s Kindle Scribe. A smaller, lighter e-paper tablet could appeal to students, professionals, and creatives who want the Paper Pro experience in a more portable package.
Speculation remains whether this will be a completely new model, or perhaps an early teaser for a future Remarkable 3. Given that the Paper Pro launched in late 2024, a full successor seems unlikely, so a downsized version of the Pro is currently the most probable scenario.
