Razer Releases Chewing Gum For Gamers

Razer is releasing a new chewing gum lineup to help gamers maintain “focus and reaction time”.

Building on the gaming peripheral manufacturer’s RESPAWN “mental performance drink”, RESPAWN by 5 – produced in conjunction with 5 Gum maker Mars Wrigley – is formulated with B vitamins and green tea extract, among other nutrients. According to Sean Driscoll, Senior Product Evangelist for Respawn Ltd, the gum will allow gamers to “fuel their minds and taste buds”.

“RESPAWN was created to address the clear market for food and beverage products in gaming that help players maintain focus and mental agility during gameplay, without the intense rush provided by many energy products,” he said.

In a statement, Mars Wrigley and RESPAWN said the gum – which comes in Cool Mint, Tropical Punch, and Pomegranate Watermelon flavours – was developed and tested in conjunction with gamers.

“RESPAWN and Mars Wrigley’s 5 gum team organised focus groups and taste tests studying the habits of gamers and their product consumption while gaming, all to determine the best gum offering in form factor, ingredients, and taste. The findings then helped the team adjust and perfect the final flavours and formula,” they said.

In particular, the caffeine content in the gum has been slashed from its levels in the RESPAWN drink mix, which had proven unpopular among the gamers it was targeted towards.
