Razer Has A Crack At A Gaming Phone Some Say It’s A Dud
Razer is having a crack at a gaming phone after Sony with their Playstation device failed.
Leading tech pub, The Verge claims that they simply can’t agree with Razer that the device is made “for gamers,” whether it was designed by such people or not.
‘Even the gamers that like LED lights on their mouse pads, Lambo-inspired gear designs, and hexagonal PC cases don’t really want all the bells and whistles elements that are packed into the new Razer offering’ they claimed.
And in an even bigger put down they said “Most people are after the same thing from a phone: the sort of slick, glamorous, and ergonomic design of a Galaxy S8 or an iPhone X. We shouldn’t excuse ugly design by saying it’s “for gamers,” even if ugly gamer designs are so numerous”
The new Razer has the world’s first 120Hz display on a smartphone, the display itself is a 5.7-inch Sharp IGZO panel with a resolution of 2560×1440.
Razer has also included cinematic audio in the Razer Phone, which does also have Dolby Atmos support.
What this means is that the audio was tuned by Dolby and it is Atmos certified.
Razer has also included a 24-bit DAC, which does not mean that there is a headphone jack.
There is a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter included in the box, which is where the DAC is actually located.
That DAC is certified by THX.
Razer has compared the device to the reminiscent Nextbit Robin. The main difference between the Nexbit and the Razer is the durability and sturdiness of the phone. It is stronger and more durable than the Nextbit claim Razer.
The Razer also has a 4,000mAh battery with support for quick charge.
The Razer will launch with the Android 7.1.1. This version will be enhanced by the Nova Launcher on the phone, making the product user friendly. Android promised that an update to the Android Oreo is in production for the next launch.
The phone has two different available models for purchase. One standard edition and one special edition. The Standard will come with a black logo and the special with a green logo.
The Standard will be sold for $699USD and the special edition is yet to be priced.
Availability for this product is limited with launch date set for November 17th in North America and Europe. At current there is no set date for the launch in Australia.
