PS6 Leak Points To Dockable Portable Console To Rival Switch 2
Sony could be preparing a PS6 Portable to compete with the Nintendo Switch 2.
The claims come from YouTuber Moore’s Law Is Dead, who says the device will deliver console-level performance in a portable form factor, with docked mode unlocking even greater power.
Reported specs include an AMD Canis APU with 4 Zen 6c and 2 Zen 6 LP cores, a 16 Compute Unit RDNA 5 GPU, and LPDDR5X memory.
The screen is expected to be 1080p at either 60Hz or 120Hz, with full backwards compatibility for PS4 and PS5 titles.

Perhaps most enticing for fans, the handheld is rumoured to cost between US$399–US$499 (A$620–A$770). That would make it significantly cheaper than Microsoft’s forthcoming ROG Ally X handheld, tipped to be priced closer to A$1,000.
If true, this would be Sony’s first major handheld since the PlayStation Vita in 2011 – a device which never really took off.
Sony’s potential return to the portable gaming space comes during rising demand driven by the Switch and Steam Deck. While nothing is confirmed, the timing does fit Sony’s traditional console cycle.
PlayStation chief Hideaki Nishino has hinted at next-gen development already being well underway. Reports also indicate AMD secured the PS6 chip contract in 2022, with insiders pointing to a late 2027 release window.
