Nokia To Launch Sub $750 5G Smartphone, To Be Shown This Week At Qualcomm Event

Nokia who are struggling in Australia to get traction for their smartphone range after Samsung launched a value range of smartphones is set to use the Qualcomm conference in Hawaii this week to show off a new 2020 5G range.

During a recent Bloomberg interview , Qualcomm CEO, Steve Molenkov said when asked “Do you think China is ahead of the US, in terms of 5G?”
He said “Well, I would say not from the technology perspective but if you look at the deployment, the speed at which base stations are rolling out, ah, China is actually going quick fast. Ah, I think I made some comments about how it’s going to be 130,000 base stations by the end of the year and a million next year in China alone.

Those are tremendously large numbers if you put it in comparison with what you see in the United States. But that doesn’t mean the United States isn’t going quickly as well. It’s just that for the first time, China and the US are launching in the same calendar year. There used to be separated by two years or five years depending on the generation”.

The Qualcomm invitation is marked with “Say” Aloha “to the future of 5G and more”, which means that 5G will be the key point of this summit.

According to HMD Global’s CPO, Juho Sarvikas, the company will have a range of new 5G devices however the big problem for Nokia is getting carriers and retailers to range their products due to slow sales and the brand not having the same pulling power as it did previously.

Sarvikas said that the cost of Nokia’s 5G phones will be about half the current 5G phones.

The price of Nokia’s upcoming 5G phones will be between US$500 and US$650. Well,

In Asia the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G and iQOO Pro 5G version already sell for less than $$500

Based on the current information, Nokia ’s first 5G mobile phone model is Nokia 8.2. This phone will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 735 processor.

As for the camera, Nokia 8.2 will use a 32MP pop-up front camera while the rear will have a quad-camera configuration with a 64MP main shooter, TCL Mobile is tipped to launch a sub $800 5G device with a 120MP camera in 2020 and so is Samsung and LG.
