New Moto Secure App Makes Phone Security Easier

Motorola have announced their new Moto Secure app, designed as a “get-to destination for all the vital security and privacy features”, letting users control settings with more ease.

Powered by Motorola’s Thinkshield, the app allows easy, quick access to all Android and Motorola security settings and apps on your phone. It’s intended to keep your device safe from increasingly troublesome dangers like phishing and malware, among other problems.

It also has new security measures to up your guard and give you extra “peace of mind”. For example, Secure Folder lets you store crucial data and apps in a folder that is password-protected. You can also use the “Disguised Mode” ability already integrated into your Motorola device to alter icons and names of programs in your safe folder – with four different icon and name options available. The ability to use labels and images that only you will understand offers the ability to disguise vital information such as digital wallets, financial apps and email accounts.

Another new function here is Network Protection, which automatically tips you off when it finds a security risk with a hotspot or WiFi. It limits 2G connections, and can stop spoofing – when a malicious actor mimics a recognised or trusted source. It can also stop certain programs using open networks.

On top of all this, Moto Secure’s Privacy Dashboard offers a clear and detailed overview of what apps have recently had access to your contacts, calendar, camera, files, location and mic. Plus, you can update security settings and manage app permissions. This way you can let an app know you are the one in charge in case it doesn’t recognise.

You can also manage app permissions, update security settings and modify privacy controls directly from the Moto Secure App using the Privacy Dashboard.
