Netgear Launches New Cheaper Wi-Fi 7 Orbi 370 Mesh Routers Amidst Rising Competition
Netgear, long known for its premium-priced Wi-Fi products, appears to be responding to mounting pressure from more affordable Chinese and Taiwanese competitors. These rival brands have gained traction in the mesh router market with cost-effective Wi-Fi 7 solutions, gradually eroding Netgear’s market share.
In a bid to stay competitive, Netgear has introduced the Orbi 370 series — a new, more budget-friendly range of Wi-Fi 7 mesh routers. The lineup includes a three-pack configuration (one router and two satellites) and is positioned as a more accessible alternative to Netgear’s existing high-end models such as the Orbi 870, 970, and last year’s Orbi 770 series.
While Australian pricing has yet to be announced, the Orbi 370 is already available in the U.S., with a two-pack (router plus one satellite) priced at $249.99. Additional satellites can be purchased individually for $149.99, allowing users to expand coverage as needed.
The Orbi 370 system is compatible with all internet service providers and supports Wi-Fi speeds of up to 5Gbps. Each unit includes a 2.5Gbps Ethernet port, enabling high-speed wired connections for bandwidth-heavy devices such as gaming consoles and smart TVs.
The system supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands and leverages Multi-Link Operation (MLO) — a feature of Wi-Fi 7 — to combine these bands. This can lead to faster download speeds, lower latency, and more stable wireless performance on compatible devices.
According to Netgear, the Orbi 370 is ideal for growing households or users with moderately demanding connectivity needs. However, the accessible price point may also attract users looking to upgrade from older Wi-Fi standards without paying a premium.
Although Wi-Fi 7-compatible devices are still relatively rare, the Orbi 370 is backwards compatible with Wi-Fi 4, 5, 6, and 6E. Even users without Wi-Fi 7 hardware may
